How does a sailboat work??

Welcome to my TECH project, this my first site and my first time using HTML so please bare with me. Sailing is one of the most interesting and difficult sports. The way a boat uses the wind as a propellant is very interesting. Over the course of this web page I will try to explain the fundamental workings of a sailboat.

All sailboats are equipped with foils: aerofoils which are above water-the sails- are used to create power to drive the boat forward; those below the water, the centerboard/keel and rudder are used to prevent the boat from slipping sideways. These two foils are responsibe for the movement of the boat and will be the two main topics in this page.
